Why work with us

A blueprint for trial.

We fight for justice

We all have to follow the rules. When defendants and their insurance companies don’t, we hold them accountable so it doesn’t happen again.

A blueprint for trial

We take fewer cases so our attorneys have the time and resources to prepare yours for trial. We fight for those who have lost loved ones and would like to fight on their behalf.

Proven results

We seek results that hold insurance companies responsible for the harmful conduct of their clients — and civil justice that deters the same harm from happening to someone else.

Verdicts & Settlements

Recent case results.

Every case is different; past results do not guarantee a similar outcome.

Personal injury · Wrongful death

Our practice areas.

Our attorneys understand the physical, emotional and financial toll an injury takes on victims and their families. We meticulously investigate each case, gather crucial evidence, and work closely with medical professionals and accident reconstruction specialists to establish liability and show the full extent of your injuries.

Our goal is to maximize your recovery for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages. We are skilled negotiators who pursue a fair settlement — and we are prepared to take your case to trial if necessary.

Common questions

Personal injury law in Massachusetts.

For most personal injury cases it is three years from the date of the injury. You have three years to file a lawsuit or you may lose your right to seek compensation. There are exceptions, so consult an attorney as soon as possible after an injury.

You can recover damages as long as you are less than 51% at fault. Your compensation is reduced by your percentage of fault: if you’re awarded $100,000 but found 20% at fault, you receive $80,000. At 51% or more, you cannot recover damages.

Most personal injury lawyers in Massachusetts, including Combies Hanson, P.C., work on a contingency fee basis. There are no upfront costs or hourly fees, and if there is no settlement or favorable verdict, you pay nothing. Discuss fee arrangements with your attorney before hiring.

Not necessarily. Many cases settle through negotiation with the insurance company or the defendant’s legal team. If a fair settlement can’t be reached, the case may go to trial — and we are prepared to try it.

Each person’s own insurer pays medical expenses and lost wages up to a limit, regardless of fault. You can step outside the system and sue the at-fault driver if medical expenses exceed $2,000 or you’ve suffered severe or permanent injuries.

Seek medical attention right away, even if injuries seem minor. Report the incident, gather evidence such as photos and witness contacts, don’t admit fault or give recorded statements to insurers, keep all medical records and receipts, and contact an attorney to protect your rights.

A legal action brought by the estate or surviving family when someone dies due to another party’s negligence or intentional act, seeking compensation for funeral expenses, lost income, loss of companionship and the family’s suffering. It must typically be filed within three years of the date of death or discovery of its cause.

There is a three-year statute of limitations from when you knew or should have known of the malpractice; the provider must receive 182 days’ notice of intent to sue; and an “offer of proof” must be filed with a tribunal of experts. Because of this complexity, work with an experienced medical malpractice attorney.
